Spark-ignition engine (commonly found as gasoline engines)
By mechanical/thermodynamical cycle (these 2 cycles do not encompass all reciprocating engines, and are infrequently used):

Continuous combustion:
Gas turbine
Jet engine
Rocket engine
Ramjet
